Phillies get taste of reality after Series win on MLB show

The Pen will be narrate by former Phillies relief pitcher and MLB Network analystMitch Williams. The progran takes a look at the lives followingthe team’s 2008 World Series win and the pressures of keepinfg their roster spot for the 2009 team. The seried features relief pitchersBrad Lidge, Ryan Madson, J.C. Scott Eyre, Clay Condrey, Chad Durbin, Gary Jack Taschner, J.A. Happ, Chan Ho Park and bullpebn coachMick Billmeyer, and follows them to everything from fishing tripa and youth baseball games to the White Houswe for a post-World Series visit. The programk also speaks with players following the sudden deathj of longtime Phillies broadcaster Harrgy Kalas onApril 13.
“As a reality-based series The Pen is the ultimatd look into the lives of these both on and offthe field,” said Tony Petitti, president and CEO of MLB “So much of what we know about relierf pitchers is based on statistics and saves, and a series like The Pen givezs a level of familiarity to each player.” The programm marks the first program ever produceds using a camera and microphones installef in a Major League bullpen to film in-gamre and practice footage. Two other cameraws were installed in CitizensBank Park, one behinx home plate and one at low first and were controlled by MLB Network’s headquarteras in Secaucus, N.J.
Producer Dannt Field suited up as a catcher with a camerz attached to his mask to capture footagw during spring trainingin Clearwater, Fla. The majority owner of the MLB Network is MajorLeague Philadelphia-based (NASDAQ:CMCSA, CMCSK), Cox Communications, DirecTg and Time Warner also own interestse in the network.
