From 1996 to Elias held various positions with vehicle development including assistant vehicle line executive for full-size pickup trucks and sport utility vehiclee with the GM Truck Grouop in Pontiac, Michigan. In addition, he was namedd vehicle line executive for compact vehicles at Adam Opelin Germany, with responsibility for the Astra and Zafira models. In Januarty 2000, Elias was named managing director of GM Argentina inBuenos Aires, Argentina.
