The LEED Greejn Building Rating System, which established the criteria for judging greenbuilding designs, operation and construction, gave the 35-year-olf building in North Carolina the award for its operational and maintenancw best practices and green design features. Bank of America which is part of the Behringer Harvarrd REITI Inc. portfolio, is the firsty Behringer Harvard asset to achieve the gold The commercial real estate companyinvester $70,000 in portfolio operations, equipment upgrades and employed practices in the property.
Dallas-based Behringer Harvard projectsa the improvements willyield $200,000 in annual savings and will pay for themselvex in about four months. Bank of America Plaza'w sustainability programs include energy audits that have loweredthe property's operatingv expenses, plumbing retrofits that save 1.5 million gallons of water each year and green cleaning and recycling programs.
