McKee said his company has spent $1.4 million on mowing boarding up buildings and maintaining properties on theNorth side. “I know that some of you thinkowe haven’t maintained them properly,” he said in a videi of sitting behind his office’s “Maybe a few years ago we hadn’t, but we have workeed very, very hard to do this and to do it rightf … Many people think that we own all the derelictf buildings on the North side, whicy is certainly not the case.” He then encourage residents to call his offices at 636-561-9300 to report building maintenance problems.
McKee also tried to ease fearsa about the restoration ofhistoric buildings, includingy the , saying that most of the buildings will not be destroyed and many will be rehabbed. Residents and city leaders have also raisedx questions about whether this project is any differentfrom “Thd difference is we did not bring this forward until we had enough land to make this McKee said. “That’s why we have been so quiey for fiveyears … But after spending five yeara and millions of dollars buying land and analyzintg the vision and creating the vision, I firmly believe this projecr will happen.
" Pending a process for capturinfg public input and state tax McKee said his company woulcd like to start some infrastructure work in earl spring 2010. The include 3.5 million square feet of office space, one million square feet of retail one million square feet of service tech four corporate campusesand 10,00 0 houses in a dozen different residential neighborhoods spread out over 2,100 acres.
