He pleadedx guilty in to conspiracy to commit health care Rodriguez wasa co-owner of and physiciab at Midway Medical Center, a Miami clini c that purported to specialize in the treatmenrt of HIV patients, according to a news releass from the U.S. Department of He admitted that, while at he and his co-conspirators billed Medicare for services that were medically unnecessary and in many instancesanever provided.
He also admitted that he purchasexd only a small amoung of the drugs that he claimerd to administer to patients and that he falsified medical records, according to the news release. Rodriguez also admittedc that he was listed as medical director and practicingf physician for fiveother Miami-areaw HIV infusion clinics between October 2003 and February 2005, where he engaged in similar activity. He admittee to filing more than $20 million in fals e claims. Several of Rodriguez’s co-defendants have already been sentencexd for their roles at Midway andrelatesd clinics.
